Running Shoe Life Calculator

How It Works 🧠

Our Shoe Life Calculator considers several factors:

  • 🌍 Terrain Type: Different surfaces impact shoe wear differently. For example, trails are harder on shoes than roads.
  • 📏 Weekly Mileage: Higher mileage can actually extend shoe life slightly due to more consistent use.
  • Base Life: We start with an average shoe life of 400 miles, then adjust based on the factors above.

The Calculation Process:

  1. Start with the base life of 400 miles.
  2. Adjust for terrain:
    • Road: +10% (easier on shoes)
    • Trail: -20% (harder on shoes)
    • Track: +20% (consistent, soft surface)
    • Treadmill: +30% (very consistent surface)
  3. Adjust for weekly mileage:
    • High mileage (>40 miles/week): +20% (more consistent use)
    • Low mileage (<15 miles/week): -10% (shoes may deteriorate from disuse)
  4. Calculate weeks until replacement by dividing the adjusted shoe life by weekly mileage.

Remember: This is an estimate. Always check your shoes regularly for signs of wear and replace them if you notice reduced comfort or support, regardless of mileage. Happy running! 🏃‍♂️💨
